Our Story: 50 Years of Smiles in Petaluma!
From cowboy boots to surfboards, here's how Petaluma Pediatric Dentistry became a local legacy for kids' dental care.
1976 - The Roots of the Ranch
Dr. Marty Steigner moved from Southern California and opened his pediatric dental practice on Maria Drive in Petaluma. With a Western-themed office and a warm smile, Martin Steigner, DDS, PC Dentistry for Children was born-and quickly became a trusted name for children's dental care in Petaluma.
1978 - Enter Stacy: From Tiny Teeth to Front Desk Queen
Just 2 years later, little Stacy came in as a patient ... and she never left! Fast forward nearly 50 years, and she's now the smiling face at our front desk who knows generations of families. (And yes, she's technically been working here longer than Dr. Ray!)
1987 - Kendra’s First Visit
Another future star! Kendra came in as a little patient and (spoiler alert) ended up sticking around too!
1993 - Dr. Ray Finds His Calling
Dr. Ray graduated from the University of the Pacific Dental School and began practicing as a general dentist in Petaluma. He referred all the kids to Dr. Marty ... until one pediatric emergency changed everything. The team noticed how natural he was with children, and before long, his schedule was full of little smiles.
1995 - Dr. Ray Finds His Mentor
Dr. Ray took Dr. Marty out to lunch to ask how to become a pediatric dentist. That lunch sparked a mentorship - and a lifelong friendship.
1997 - Dr. Ray Heads Back to School
Dr. Ray began his pediatric dental residency at the University of Maryland. He kept in touch with Dr. Marty, visiting on breaks and attending dental meetings together.
1999 - The Dream Team Begins
Dr. Ray completed his residency and joined Dr. Marty on Maria Drive to begin his career in pediatric dentistry.
2004 - Partners in Smiles
Dr. Marty and Dr. Ray officially became partners under a new name: Martin R. Steigner, DDS, PC & Raymond A. Ramos, DDS, PC
2005 - A New Home for Happy Teeth
With the old office slated for redevelopment, Dr. Marty and Dr. Ray designed a brand new space at 3835 Cypress Drive- built just for kids!
Every detail was chosen with comfort, fun, and safety in mind.
2006 - Our New Office Opens!
Our new kid-friendly dental home opened its doors, blending Dr. Marty's cowboy spirit and Dr. Ray's surf-loving energy.

2007 - Leadership in Action
Dr. Marty served as the 32nd President of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry - bringing his values of excellence and advocacy to the state level.
2015 - Dr. Marty Rides into Retirement
After nearly 40 years, Dr. Marty officially retired, passing the reins to Dr. Ray and the team. His legacy of compassionate pediatric dental care continues every day in our practice.

2016 - Dr. Marty Hosts Dental Study Club Conference
Dr. Marty returned to host the California Pediatric Dental Research Conference, continuing his dedication to education and innovation.
2021 - Dr. Ray Hosts the Same Conference!
Carrying the torch, Dr. Ray brought together top pediatric dentists to share, learn, and grow.
2024 - Dr. Ray Celebrates 25 Years of Pediatric Smiles
A quarter-century of laughter, trust, and excellent dental care for Petaluma's kids!

2026 - Welcome to Petaluma Pediatric Dentistry
To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we refreshed our cowboy-surfer logo and officially named the practice: Petaluma Pediatric Dentistry, the office of Dr. Raymond A. Ramos, DDS, PC Celebrating 50 years of creating healthy, happy smiles—and we’re just getting started.
