AboutRaymond A. Ramos, DDS & Associates

Our practice was founded in Petaluma in 1974 by Dr. Martin Steigner. Dr. Ray Ramos joined the practice in 1999. Our wonderful team has always been dedicated to children’s oral health. Several of our team members began as pediatric patients of our office! The office is designed especially for children with bright colors and child-friendly activities.

Our office philosophy focuses on prevention, education, and positive experiences to promote a lifetime of good oral health. We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and recommend establishing a dental home by a child’s first birthday. We understand that each child is unique. We strive to provide a positive and relaxing dental visit for each child. We offer many different behavior management options from “TLC” to “Tell-Show-Do” to “Distraction” to pharmacologic options including “laughing gas,” oral sedation, and general anesthesia.

Individualized Care

We believe that every child is unique. We tailor our pediatric dental care to the individual needs of your child. Our goal is to provide positive pediatric dental visits for your child.

Our mission is to provide children and their parents with the tools to achieve optimal dental health. We greatly value every child entrusted to our practice as if they were our own. Your family is family to us. We support your child from infancy through the teen years. We embrace the opportunity to make your child's dental visit fun, exciting and educational.

Board Certified by the ABPD

All of our pediatric dentists are Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Becoming a diplomate is a voluntary, yet rigorous process of studying and examinations. Being a diplomate shows a commitment to education and excellence in pediatric dentistry.

Cutting Edge Technology

Our office features the latest technology to keep your child safe. We use digital imaging. Our digital x-rays provide lower radiation to minimize exposure for your child. We use top of the line sterilization procedures to ensure our instruments and water lines are safe. We also offer Silver Diamine Fluoride as an alternate to filings for small cavities.

Dedication and Convenience

We have served Petaluma’s children as Board Certified Pediatric Dentists since 1974. Many of our team members were patients before they became a part of our pediatric dental team! We support the Petaluma community through events like the Butter and Eggs Day Parade, Petaluma Mother’s Club Halloween Fairs, and the Kid Fondo, pre-school visits and sponsorships of schools, sports teams, the Petaluma Education Foundation and more.

Dr. Raymond Ramos

Dr. Raymond Ramos grew up in Southern California skateboarding and surfing. He majored in Biology at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. While in college, he worked at a dental laboratory which sparked his interest in becoming a dentist. He moved to Northern California in 1990 and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of the Pacific Dental School in 1993. On weekends, he would mountain bike in Sonoma County and knew it was where he wanted to live. Dr. Ramos is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He met his wife, Dr. Cheryl Willett, at the University of Maryland where they were classmates and convinced her to move to beautiful Sonoma County. They have two wonderful daughters. When he's not at work or at one of his daughter's activities, he rides and races mountain and road bikes and snowboards. When asked what he likes most about being a pediatric dentist, he says "I love what I do and it doesn't feel like work. As a dad, I appreciate the trust the parents place in me and it's a privilege to watch their children grow up over the years. Even when the kids are old enough to graduate to an adult dentist, I still see their little face from their first visit with me when they were a toddler."

Dr. Martin Steigner

Dr. Martin Steigner Congratulations Dr. Steigner on your retirement! I cannot thank Dr. Marty Steigner enough for being an awesome pediatric dentist, wonderful partner, and dear friend. In 1996, I was a general dentist in Sonoma County. I was seeing a lot of kids and started thinking that I might want to go to a pediatric dental residency to obtain the extra training necessary to specialize in treating children. I called Marty for advice. As you well know, Marty is so friendly and approachable. He told me to go for it. In 1999, I returned from my residency in pediatric dentistry and began working with Marty. We have had a great time practicing together over these past 15 years and I am honored to carry on his legacy. I hope that you will join me in congratulating Marty on his retirement next time you see him around Petaluma. You might even see him in the office, we love when he stops by! I am truly grateful to have had him as a partner, mentor, and friend. Sincerely, Dr. Ray Ramos (Feb. 2015)
